Hierarchical

In the most general sense 'hierarchical' represents monotonically ordered representations, or progressive abstractions, for example, subsampling an image or smoothing an image in progressive degrees to represent varying shades of abstraction or specificity would constitute a hierarchical abstraction (a multiscale representation).
